Ebola: Ghana named in WHO priority list

The World Health Organization(WHO)has named Ghana among 15 nations it will focus its attention on towards the transfusion of the lethal disease; EBOLA.This was after the European Union (EU) report a review of its entry policies, and the disease was reported in the last untouched area of Sierra Leone.

The rest of the countries include of the countries include Burkina Faso,Senegal,Ivory Coast,South Sudan,Mali,Mauritania,CAR,Nigeria,DR Congo,The Gambia,Togo,Benin,Cameroon,and Guinea Bissau.

The WHO’s Global Director, Dr. Isabelle Nuttall said, said in a report:“the objective is to stop the transmission from occurring in these countries. They may not have a case but after one case we don’t want more, these countries need to be better prepared." She further stated  “this week we will cross 9,000 cases of Ebola and 4,500 deaths. The outbreak continues to hit health workers hard. So far 427 health care workers have been infected with Ebola and 236 have died.”

In the meantime  Nigeria and Senegal are expected to named EBOLA FREE countries in a few days time.This is a great news for both countries

The EU also reported that it was analyzing its screening controls for airline passengers leaving West Africa
