Iran hangs woman insspite of international uproar

A 26-year-old woman convicted of killing a man she said tried to sexually abused her has been executed in Iran.

Reyhaneh Jabbari was apprehended in 2007 for the stabbing and eventually killing of Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former employee of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence.

She was hanged on Saturday dawn according to official IRNA news agency reports.

A message posted on Facebook campaign that was set up to try saving the convict,but which now states "Rest in Peace"',confirms the report of her execution.

Prior to the execution the United Nations (UN) human right monitor said  Reyhaneh Jabbari act was in self-defense after  Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi tried abusing her sexually,and that her trial in 2009 was a mistake.

Ms Jabbari's mother visited the daughter for almost an hour on Friday, before her execution on Saturday.
In this year alone more than 250 people have been hanged in Iran since the beginning of the year accordind to the UN.

In spite of all these appeal by the international organization asking the Iranian government to halt the execution of the convict Reyhaneh Jabbari was this dawn hanged.She was just 26 years but has been in jail for the past 7 years.
