Why I look 20 at 33years,says John Paintsil

Many football players even in their mid-fifties still look youthful and very much more enthused and active as compared to men who are even in their thirties.

The reason is not that footballers intentionally slow down their growth rate, but rather it is an inadvertent advantage derived from engaging in sports and other daily body exercises.

The benefit derived from engaging in the game of soccer such as increase muscular strength, cardiovascular health, improved flexibility and physical fitness, all give a clue why footballers look youthful even in their old age.

In Ghana, clear examples of such footballers are Tony Yeboah, Steven Appiah, John Mensah, Laryea Kingston, John Paintsil and a few others.

All these players who have once graced the field for the Ghana National Team, Black Stars, and other foreign football clubs are in their thirties now, and even some are in their early forties but they still look very much youthful.

A critical look at John Paintsil, in his recent photos, the former Santos FC player is now 33-years-old, but looks very young and energetic even more than before. In other photos, John revealed his well-built 6 packs which are apparently trending in the galleries of most lady-admirers in Ghana and other countries.

He was a member of Ghana's 2010 FIFA World Cup team that reached the quarter-finals in South Africa before losing to Uruguay. He played in all five games. On 13th June 2010, in a World Cup group-stage match against Serbia, another variation of his name appeared on his jersey

Aside his massive contribution in the 2010 World Cup season and 12 years of consistent appearance for the Black Stars team, he has also contributed tremendously to other football clubs overseas; John played for Maccabi Tel Avi FC, West Ham United FC, Fulham FC, Leicester City FC, Santos and in 9th June, 2014 John joined Maritzburg United on a 2-year contract after his contract with Santos expired.

John Paintsil and his friend
In a conversation with John, the well-known former right back Black Stars player said he is 33-years old but still looks young, active and very productive on the field.

He advised that regular body exercise helps to keep one’s body stature in check and provides a healthy immune system

Essien, Muntari face AC Milan axe

Essien And Muntari
AC Milan duo Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari are on the verge of being axed out of the club due to their below par performance in their 3-0 friendly win over lower side AC Reggiana on Wednesday, reports the Italian.

The two Ghanaian players were thrown into the hat by manager Filipo Nzaghi but their midfield partnership was disappointing.

While Essien has not really integrated in the Milan squad, Muntari has been a pale shadow of himself this season.

Reports in Italy suggest the Ghanaian internationals will not fit into the Milan project and will be shipped out at the end of the current campaign.

Indeed tuttomotoriweb.com reported on Friday the two players should go away from the club in June following massive fans distrust towards them to enable the club bring in quality players to overturn their downward spiral.

Remand prisoners release big relief for Prison service - PRO

Prisons Service PRO Vitalis Aryeh has described as “a big relief” the summary release of remand prisoners following an eye-opening documentary by Joy News’ Seth Kwame Boateng.

For the second time this month, the Justice For all Program has visited another prison, specifically the Nsawam prison where 7 courts heard 61 remand cases, all in an effort to deal with the remand crisis in Ghana’s prisons.

Apart from the 23 discharged unconditionally, 29 were granted bail and 9 had their cases adjourned.

Last week, the program was at the Koforidua prison where 18 people were freed.

Since the airing of the JOYNEWS documentary “Locked and forgotten” there has been criticism of State as well as Police prosecutors whose actions or inactions have been deemed the cause of the remand crisis.

The Prison PRO decried the slow pace of the Justice For All Programme for the past seven years until the documentary was aired.

It is very positive for us. It is a big relief, we pray it continues”, he said.

There has been an on-going introspection in the Prison Service on the conditions of prisoners and the prisons.

While the documentary has provoked changes, questions remain about sustainability and reform in the country's corrections facilities.

Vitalis Ayeh pleaded with the public to come to the help of the Service.

We need everything” he said, ranging from beds to new prison buildings. He said most of the existing prisons were not built to house convicts and provide them with the atmosphere to help them reform.

Is Dumsor really added to wikipedia...?

Ghanaians have been experiencing these energy crises since 2007 as a result of the fall in the water level, the failure of some turbines among other challenging factors facing the electricity company of Ghana.

Wikipedia explain the dumsor as ‘a Drama Ghanaian term used to describe the state of electrical power shedding by the Ghana Grid Company and Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in Ghana.
‘The term gained prominence during the term of President John Mahama due to his abysmal handling of the nation's power problems. Dumsor is formed from two Twi words Dum and sor meaning off and on respectively.’

It’s no surprise that word has been added to the world most popular online encyclopedia after it has go viral on social media with hashtag in 2014, Also the President who has been nick name Mr. Dumsor has used the term on multiple platform.

This dumsor era has brought about a lot of tragedies with most properties and lives being lost than the previous era.

Although the Government has promise to work hard to restore the power supply in the country this year  it has intensified the dumsor to 12 hours of power 24 hour of light out.

Meanwhile the dumsor has brought about another venture of business such as mobile phone  charging, generators for renting as it has also demand for it, solar panels among others.

Well this might not be something we can be proud off but we have to live with it as we grow as a nation.

Neymar double sends barca to semi-finals of coper del ray

The Brazilian netted twice for the visitors as Diego Simeone's men lost their heads, with Gabi and Mario Suarez both getting sent off and Arda throwing his boot at a linesman

Barcelona defeated nine-man Atletico Madrid 3-2 to progress to the last four of the Copa del Rey 4-2 on aggregate after a sensationally volatile encounter in the Spanish capital.

The Blaugrana arrived at the Vicente Calderon with a one-goal advantage from last week's first leg at Camp Nou but Fernando Torres levelled the tie on aggregate inside 60 seconds with a low finish, only for Neymar to respond in kind in the ninth minute

Raul Garcia put Atletico back ahead on the night with a contentous penalty but Barca went in 3-2 ahead at the break thanks to an own goal from Miranda and Neymar's second strike of the evening.

Gabi was then dismissed during angry scenes during the half-time interval that also saw Raul Garcia clash with the Barca bench, while Arda Turan then dramatically threw his boot at a linesman early in the second hal

All hope Atletico had of turning the tie around disappeared in the closing stages when Mario Suarez was sent off for a second bookable offence for dissent, thus bringing an end to an incredibly contentious and exciting encounter.

Within the opening minute Torres had levelled the tie following some uncharacteristic sloppy Barcelona defending from Javier Mascherano.

His long ball out of defence was intercepted by Guilherme Siqueira on the halfway line, he found Torres and the striker fired into the bottom corner.

With noise reverberating around the Vicente Calderon, Atletico appeared to have the upper hand, but Neymar soon quietened them down with an equaliser after nine minutes.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez combined well on the right-hand side, before the latter played a perfect pass for the Brazilian, and he made no mistake to beat Jan Oblak.

Neymar thought he had extended Barca's aggregate lead in the 18th minute as he raced clear from a long clearance to score, but the assistant referee's flag denied him on this occasion.

Antoine Griezmann should have restored Atletico's advantage on the night three minutes before the half hour, but he fired straight at Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Within 60 seconds, though, they were ahead as Raul Garcia scored from the spot - the midfielder firing home from 12 yards after Mascherano was adjudged to have fouled Juanfran on the edge of the area

Barca levelled eight minutes later thanks to a Miranda own goal. The defender miscued a clearance into his own net following Sergio Busquets' header.

And, as the momentum shifted in their favour again, the Catalans went in at the break ahead after another swift counter-attack. Atletico had seen a penalty appeal waved away before Messi led the charge up the other end of the pitch and found Jordi Alba, who played the ball in for Neymar to score.

The drama did not let up and, as tempers began to fray at the break, Atletico midfielder Gabi was dismissed in the tunnel for his involvement in a fracas.

Arda Turan was then lucky not to follow him early in the second half when he was only shown a yellow card having thrown his boot at the assistant after the the non-award of a foul.

Barcelona's man advantage enabled the visitors to dictate the pace in the second 45 minutes, and they slowly took the sting out of Atletico's play.

Diego Simeone's side were still able to create some chances, with substitute Cani having the best of them when his 70th-minute strike was well saved by Ter Stegen. But any hopes Atletico had of mounting a late comeback ended with seven minutes remaining when Mario Suarez was sent off.

Barca had done enough and now await Getafe or Villarreal in the semi-final, with those two due to meet on Thursday.
